Current Readalongs: Education is Power

Bonjour! Educate and Empower are the first two words of my motto, so it shouldn't surprise you that I am creating a page to connect you to the books that I am reading. 

Consider this your official invitation to read along! I will eventually write a review of each book, but until then, I'll tweet (skywrite?) anything I find interesting on my Bluesky account (noheadmarie.bsky.social).

Right now I am reading two books that you are likely to find me writing about:

One is a fantastic (but dense) critique of the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his generally ignored Socialist Democratic leanings. His quotes have been appropriated and misused very, very many times.

The other book I have just started so I can't speak to its quality yet, but it feels intriguing and I am already finding things worth talking about. It is an insider's view of dismantling dictatorships, most specifically in Ghana, while setting up a successful and sustainable republic afterward.

Defeating Dictators: Fighting Tyranny in Africa and Around the World by George B.N. Ayittey
